Here’s the scenario…you have 5 minutes to give a speech and only 15 seconds to reel in your audience.
What do you do?

We’ve found that there are 6 main ways to starting your presentation that will give you better odds of hooking your audience.
Enjoy!
Tell a story!
This is one of the most successful ways of hooking your audience!
I mean who doesn’t love a great story!
Telling a story makes you seem more human a relatable to your audience members making it most likely that they’ll lend you an ear.
It also allows you to show yourself in a natural and comfortable setting, telling a story comes naturally to most of us so you’ll most likely be more relaxed during this part of your presentation.
Media is a must!
Now, this won’t work for everything but if your presentation is on a product then you may be better off showing them how the product works as opposed to telling them.
People love to take information in with their eyes and catchy videos and images will help with that.
When you ask a rhetorical question a few things happen, your audience’s ears perk up, their brain starts to analyze and they become engaged.
Now they feel like they are part of your presentation as opposed to being someone who is merely listening to it.
Start with a provocative statement!
People make the mistakes on introducing themselves and their background when presenting.
This is an easy way to achieve boredom!
People don’t care where you studied or who you worked with.
In order to avoid this from happening to you try to open your presentation with a provocative statement.
Something that will stand out and pique your audience’s interest.
Map out your presentation!
Letting people know the journey you’re about to take together will keep them interested.
As you move forward from section to section of your presentation people will anticipate each section that you had previously informed them on.
Meaning they will be more engaged and aware of where the presentation is headed.
