The Competitive Advantage of Virtual Trainings (mandated or by choice)—Secrets of the Rockstar Trainers REVEALED
Has time been your enemy when it comes to trainee learning transfer?

We have all had that sinking feeling of failing to perform at work on something we were “trained” to do—that we “should” in theory know how to execute (maybe it is something we don’t have to do all that often…BUT STILL). For many of us trainers, we may lose sleep unsure we are equipping all of our trainees for these on-the job moments. The lag between the learninig and the doing has long been an issue.

Welcome to the solution! This long-time “learning transfer” stress for trainer and trainee alike has a remedy…it’s called SPACED PRACTICE, and it is the HUGE upside to virtual environments.
What is spaced practice?

Let’s start by defining what it is not; it is not a one-off cram session. When you cram, you study enough to pass an exam or get through to the next level. It’s there short term, but then POOF! It’s gone.
However, with spaced learning, you SPREAD OUT that study time, and with virtual you can take the learning in real time, when you need to apply that learning. With virtual content you can stop, process, rewind, review, ACCESS INFO as you deal with the challenges. This produces more long-lasting learning and performance confidence on the job. How should you space their learning?
- Start planning early – the beginning of the training, or even earlier. Set aside a bit of time every day. Organize the content for them to access easily—like we have done for you here https://ruletheroomtrainthetrainer.com/train-the-trainer-lab/
- Have them strategically watch virtual content. For example, if you have an online meeting on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, you might have them review the content on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday respectively for each of those classes.
- Create several level of ongoing learning and include cerifications to work on over time. Our certification serve to space learning for our learners, just as they do for their trainees. Here is a great certification https://ruletheroomtrainthetrainer.com/certification-tests/ for you to practice “spaced learning” for yourself…virtual does have it’s benefits whether it’s a quarantine situation or just the best way for you and your learners to learn this day in age!
