Once again Thanksgiving is upon us! Personally, it is one of my favorite holidays if not the favorite. If you think about it Thanksgiving is one of the few major holidays that does not revolve around the giving of gifts which I think is a nice touch.
Instead, it focuses on something much more beautiful…a day to give thanks for all of our blessings and a day to spend it with loved ones.
I for one love the effort my family and I make to see each other on this day. Like most families mine is all over the place so get-togethers are hard to come by. I say any day that brings us together is a special day.
But what about the food?!?!?
Now to the second favorite part of this holiday… the food! The one day a year where I do not feel guilty about going all out and piling it on my plate. While many of us picture Turkey, stuffing, mash potatoes and green beans there are so many more options out there.
The fact that the United States is a melting pot has brought so many more options from so many different cultures when it comes to Thanksgiving. Go to some households and you may find that the turkey has been replaced with Pernil (roasted pork)!
All in all, I don’t think you can ever go wrong with the dishes you choose for this holiday. Although if you check out the video below you may be surprised by what some people have served up in the last 100 years. Enjoy and Happy Holidays!
